This picture was taken by Evans, Walker (1903-1975). It is a shot of a sidewalk scene in Selma, Alabama. This photo was published in December of 1935. It was taken outside in black and white. It is a urban setting because there are buildings next to each other with signs. The time of day was afternoon. There are five African American people in this photo. Three of them are sitting on a bench, one is coming out from the building, and the other one is sitting on steps. They look like they are between the ages of 30-50. They are all wearing hats on their heads and I noticed that there is a box full of empty boxes in front of the store. The condition of the store seems to be in fair condition. It doesn't look like the best place to have a busniess but it's not the worst. It is surrounded by other businesses or stores. It is a negative photo in black and white. I would ask the photographer if he was a white photographer taking pictures of blacks, or a black photographer. Another question I would want the answer to is, what the people are selling in the store and is thatt where the four guys always hang out. I would want to know this because they seem very relaxed and casual there just like they are there all the time.

This photograph was taken by Jack Delano and was published in May 1941. It is a picture of houses for blacks in Eutaw, Alabama. It is a outdoors shot during the day in a rural area. There is a house with a lady and child on the small porch. I would guess the kid sitting on the floor is the child of the woman who's standing. Their clothing is kind of messy and not nice. Something that catchs my eye is the telephone poles in wires in the background. Another thing that catchs my eye is the yard of the house. It doesn't seem to be kept up with very well. The grass is high and uncut. The house seems small and in bad condtion. There is a small window and door and unsteady staris going into the yard. Theres a small overhang also. This photo is negative black and white. A question I would want to ask the lady in the picture is, how many rooms are in her house. Another question I would ask is, how many people are living in her house along with her.

Jack Delano also took this picture. This picture is described as a negro family near Greensboro, Alabama. He published this picture in May 1941. It is a rural picture taken during the day. There are eight African Americans in this photograph. The ages of the people go from infant to I would guess 55. The men are in pants and tank tops and the women are in skirts or aprons and a tshirt. The toddler in the front of the picture has a hat on. There are clothes hanging from the overhang and chairs on the porch. The condition of the house is fair. It's not too bad but it does seem small to have that many people living there. There is a field in the background. This photo was taken in black and white and is light. Something I would like to ask the people in the picture is, is that all the people that live in their house. I would also like to ask them if the field in the background is theirs or they just work on it.
